Fall & Winter

Known as the “Switzerland Of America”, wintertime puts Ouray in the spotlight with a variety of winter activities. The Ouray Ice Park’s signature event, the Ouray Ice Festival, takes place in January. Known as the premier international gathering of its kind, the festival draws top athletes from around the world.

In addition to world class skiing, the San Juan Mountains beckon winter adventurers looking for back-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and snowmobiling to cut fresh tracks in deep, untouched powder.

  • Turn left out of Montrose airport
  • Follow Highway 550 south into Ouray.
  • Turn right on 6th avenue.
  • Proceed until you see the Black Bear Manor on your right.
